Passover in the Hospital

Our Passover was something. Our close friends Louis and Ibeth and their family of 5 drove down from VA to spend Passover with us. Passover morning they received a call Louis’ mother was killed in an auto accident. They left immediately to FL to be with family. Please pray for the Alvarez family.

Before the tragic call, I had to go to the ER. My BP, pulse and blood levels got dangerously low, so I spent Passover in the hospital.

I’ve been battling severe anemia for some time which affects my heart condition. I’ve been battling unexplained blood loss for many months. Blood thinners make it worse (Plavix) Due to my second heart surgery (heart stents) the Plavix is necessary.

I’m exhausted from the anemia and still dealing with some new heart issues  as well as getting used to all the meds. I’ve been to the OBGYN, cardiologist and hematologist trying to get back to normal. I won’t bore you with details. I know you all understand my limited energy has to go to my family.

All things work together for the good. Please excuse my absence. I miss blogging fellowship and visiting you all. I look forward to getting back to normal. God bless.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.James 1:2-5

  7. Abba Father Draw near to Robin and all her family as she struggles to come to stability in health and all the challenges that go with that. Father, may Robin grab hold of the Tzitzit on your garment, and may you feel the power of healing come from you and enter into Her body. Father, bless your daughter, our dear sister with healing from all this heart troubles. What’s that prayer in the Sidur Lord? Blessed Are You, Adonai our God, King of the Universe who fashioned man with wisdom and created within him may openings and many cavities. It is obvious and known before Your Throne of Glory that if one of them were to be ruptured or but one of them were to be blocked, it would be impossible to survive and to stand before You. Blessed are You, Adonai, Who heals all flesh and acts wondrously. I pray this prayer for my sister Robin, Lord, And we give thanks to you for all things, B’Shem Yeshua HaMeshiach, Amen.

I’m so sorry to hear about Louis’ mother. Please tell Ibeth I am praying for them. I’m also sorry to hear that you have been so under the weather. It is good to hear from you. Take good care of yourself.

  10. Dear Robin,
I’m so sorry to hear that health struggles had you in the hospital for Passover. Maybe you will all be able to celebrate next month.
I want to suggest that you research the drug pl*vix VERY carefully. Here’s why:
My Dad had had stints (sp?) placed in his heart and they had him on pl*vix 4 years. He developed an intracranial bleed (which can be caused by pl*vix or other things). The problem was, that they could not operate on him because of the pl*vix. They said it would take 10-14 days off of pl*vix before his platelet count was close enough to normal to operate to relieve the pressure on his brain.
I don’t want to go into all that happened to him after this, but he didn’t make it a day past the surgery.
We feel that if he had only been taking aspirin (which performs a similiar function to pl*vix, but does not have the 10-14 day clearance time), that they may have been able to operate immediately and save him.
So, please dear Sister, carefully research whether this is a medication worth dealing with. Aspirin may be able to do the job just as well (still can cause intracranial and GI bleeds) and if surgery were ever to be necessary, you would be able to have it.
    Blessings and healing to you.
    ~ Beth

  12. Beth, I have the same concerns and more about the Plaxix and explained my concerns to the dr. Problem is 60 days after stents Plavix is needed as stent with out Plavix is so dangerous. They promise to wean me off if possible.

    Please pray.
I’m going to the hematologist this morning and praying he will give me an iron infusion. I’m so exhausted the trip from my bed to the bathroom takes 10 minutes to recover and I’m going downhill daily.

    Shalom, Robin,
I just read about your most recent health issue. I don’t know why these things happen near Pesach, but God knows. I will be praying you feel His comfort knowing you are in His capable hands. You have such a gift of encouragement, and have given me so much through all your books, forums, blogs, over the years (since 1999 when we discovered the Hebraic Roots–your Biblical Holidays book was the first one I bought). Set back and take from us; it’s okay. With much love and prayers..

  19. Robin – I will remember you in my prayers! Rejoice in your family time… that is so important!!

    In Christ,

  20. Sorry you are not well, Robin You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

  31. Hi Robin,
I do hope that you are feeling better and getting answers to all the questions your body seems to have. I too will be having an absence from blogland as I have Knee replacement surgery on Wednesday. Saying away is so hard isn’t it? We do become like family quicker then we realize.

    Because of Jesus, Bobbie

Psalm 8:3-9 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.

    Praise brings strength.

  32. Praying that you have energy coming out your ears soon. 😉 Praying you’ll be looking like a pink bunny with a drum and sunglasses on… running round your house driving everyone crazy!!! 😉

Hi Robin, I won’t indulge on the privilege of posting here, but many patients who describe symptoms/conditions just like you have, are realizing recovery of health (not necessarily a cure) and if you wish, I’d be glad to share more info with you….no obligation, but it’s worth a look imo….but I’ll let you decide if you wish to contact me…..there’s nothing quacky about it….it requires the support of your medical doctor….thanks so much for your wonderful website….I value everything I read here…I would at least like to share the story of my daughter’s recovery to health, if you would allow…..Best to you, Carol
